Show #1 in Minneapolis, MN at Gallery 360

Back from the quick weekend trip to MN for the show opening at Gallery 360 (the show will run through Jan 13th) and on to preparing for 2 more upcoming shows, the scarf bundling and ornament stitching are continuing full speed ahead.

Make a List Monday

I’d be lost without my lists. My brain seems to be going in so many directions most of the time. My lists are my anchors in the sea of chaos. Especially this time of year, with the holidays approaching and 3 shows to prepare for in the next 2 months, my lists will keep me […]

Got Brown?

"Snowflake" ornaments

So Conflicted

It’s the most ideal time of year for gathering windfall leaves and doing some eco-dyeing, but since my show at Gallery 360 in MN opens in just 2.5 weeks, I’m instead stationed at my sewing machine on nights and weekends, creating a few more small LineScape textile paintings and […]

Round and Round We Go

It began with a business meeting doodle:

I’ve been feeling circles lately. Inward and outward spirals, rings, orbits, orbs, dots, fullness, round, connectors, overlaps, snowflakes, whatever.

And next came this:

And this:

on the screens I made today. […]

Rusty Bits Bouquets

One of my perks from my teaching gig in Telluride, CO was getting to see and wander through Kathy’s (one of my students) collection of rusty bits that she’s acquired over her many years of collecting rusty stuff.

And Kathy very generously gifted me with rusty bits from her collection, including some rusted pipes, cylinders, […]

All Good Plans and Why I Have to Make Art

The Plan was a test, to try and let the little bundles rest for 30 days before the big reveal.

silk with eucalyptus, hibiscus, rose petals, tin can-wrapped, steamed, left to rest for 11 days

The reality is, after 11 days, I noticed the first signs of “little fuzzies” starting to appear on […]

The waaaaaaiting is the hardest part

Anticipation…

Anticipaaaaaaation is … making me wait.

It’s keeping me waaaaaaaaaiiiting.

I’m going to try to let these 15 scarves passively cook in the sun and rest for a whole month before unbundling this time, to see just how much more of the natural plant color and texture might […]

More Fire, Smoke, Heat, and Eco-dyed Silk Scarves

As the High Park fire continues to rage (now 56,000 acres burned and 45% contained), 1700+ firefighters are battling it, many people remain evacuated, and at least 181 homes are known to have been lost so far. And the fire conditions remain at “Red Flag” warning levels….very high temps, high winds, and […]

Fire, Smoke, and Unbundling Update

Fire and Smoke

It’s Day 5 of the High Park Fire, and while the fire has burned over 46,000 acres, it is now 10% contained and authorities have doubled the number of resources fighting it (1000 staff) along with 100 fire engines, 5 heavy tankers, 5 single engine tankers, and 14 helicopters – the cavalry […]

Weekend of Fire, Smoke, and Bundling

High Park Fire

While our home is not in the threat zone, it’s been a very concerning weekend as many of our friends have been forced to evacuate their homes due to the aggressive raging High Park fire which has burned 37,000 acres and several “structures” since Saturday morning and remains completely out of control […]
